Wayfinders Room
Preschool
Age Group: 3.5 to 5 years
Capacity: Up to 23 tamariki
The Wayfinders Room prepares tamariki for their next big step into primary school. Within this space, children are welcomed, respected, and supported as valued members of our whānau.
Learning is holistic and responsive to each child’s strengths and aspirations. We foster confidence, leadership, communication skills, emotional regulation, and problem solving.
This room includes two learning groups:
Mānuka Group
Focuses on foundational literacy and numeracy skills, early science concepts, and social emotional development through small group teaching and one to one support. Tamariki build core knowledge and confidence before transitioning into the Pōhutukawa group.
Pōhutukawa Group
Home to our Trail Blazers Ready for School programme. Tamariki develop leadership skills, concentration, pencil grip, and deeper mathematical and literacy understanding. Two focused learning sessions per day support structured preparation for school while maintaining play based learning.
Throughout their time in Wayfinders, children build independence, responsibility, and a love of learning, leaving AEE confident and capable for school transition.
